For a Global Green New Deal

Executive Summary

In the United States calls for a Green New Deal have reanimated progressives and put climate action at the front of political debate. With an agenda that includes millions of well-paid jobs, infrastructure projects and the expansion of universal public services in the pursuit of a rapid and just transition away from fossil fuels, the Green New Deal presents an opportunity for vibrant international coordination on the left.

This report explores the grounds for such coordination as well as the political frameworks that can help to guide large-scale action. Coming from a group of US-based policy thinkers, “For a Global Green New Deal” draws from a range of successful climate initiatives across the globe, and calls for a renewed focus on decolonial, justice-based political action.
